what’s your favourite beck record?
Hmmm… tough choice. It changes with the wind. Ok, but by ‘record’ do you mean album, or track? If it’s album, then Odelay is always going to be favourite. But Sea Change is damn fine, so mellow, heartbreaking. And Midnite Vultures is a Prince-esque funk fest, and vastly overlooked I believe.
As for tracks, hmm… Loser is and always will be a classic, an iconic song. Hot Wax is always on a playlist. His cover of The Corgis ‘Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometimes’ is an amazing haunting track. Diskobox always gets me going in a funky weird mood. No Complaints is a lovely summery track. And finally, Sing It Again for that proper folksy vibe.
If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?
Just one? But I have a list, an ever growing list, of things to be banished to the 8th dimension when I become supreme galactic overlord. Don’t think I could pick just one thing.
What would your perfect day look like?
Ooh.. interesting question. I don’t think there’s a definite perfect day, nothing set in stone anyway. Depends on a lot of circumstances too.
Ok, so if I was considering it on my own, then a sunny day, a good breakfast, and an afternoon with a gentle pub crawl/lazy lunch with any number of like minded friends, crossing over in to early evening, before maybe a chilled night in with friends drinking and laughing and flirting till late.
If I was with someone special for my perfect day, then a lie in. ha ha! Sumptious breakfast. A day in the country in the sun. Village pubs, walks in fields. Some photography, food and drink miles away from the city, just to experience the peace and quiet and solitude of the country side again, just for a day. Home, and either out round some chilled bars, or home for a ‘nice’ (heh heh) night in.
Failing all that, a day where I don’t feel like I’ve been kicked in the head when I wake up, or woken up too early with the sun peeking thru the blinds, a day when I’ve no bills in the post, and a night when I don’t have any trouble sleeping.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Surprisingly Large Head.
If you could be invited to one person’s birthday party, whose would it be?
Mine. Not had a party since I was 30. The last 2 birthdays have been spectacularly awful. Dumped 2 days before the last, and had a girl with some drunken jealousy issues the one before that. This year, I will invite myself to whatever it is I have planned.
If you could become any fictional character, who would you be?
I would have to invent one. A fictional character of my own creation.
when was the last time you sent flowers?
not that long ago. Prefer to give them in person tho.
who’s the better vampire? count chocula or that edward out of twilight?
well since I’m not a 13yr old emo, I have never seen twilight. no plans to either. And Chocula was crap as a vampire.
What’s your favorite drink?
Ooh… That’s a whole can of worms your about to open. I’ve a lot of favourite drinks, for different occasions/times of day.
Weekday morning, coffee. Weekend morning, coffee then Bloody Mary. Weekday lunch, coffee. Weekend lunch, Guinness. Weekday afternoon, coffee. Weekend afternoon, Guinness, or on a hot day, gin & tonic. A cold glass of vimto is damn good. And then there’s Irish whiskey, a proper cocktail, and plain old tea.
What music are you listening to today?
Ooh, it’s a random day today. It started off with a bit of Black Sabbath. Got bored quickly of that, so then it was The Breeders, which inspired a bit of Pixies. After that, been listening to BBC 6Music, which played more Breeders, some Snoop, Beatles. Then back to iPhone, for the best of Love. Was in that kind of mood. Dunno what next… hmmm
